History of the Flint Male Chorus

Accompanist: Cathy Watson

Cathy joined the Flint Male Chorus as accompanist in 2004. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education as a music major. Cathy serves as accompanist for the choir programs in the Clio and Flushing school districts. She teaches piano and works as a substitute church organist. She has done accompanying for individuals and groups, including Clio Cast and Crew.

The Flint Male Chorus was organized in 1943 as the Chevrolet-Flint Male Chorus. At that time, most of the men were employed by the Chevrolet Manufacturing Division of GM in downtown Flint. Today, 60 years later, the singers come from all walks of life in Flint and the surrounding communities. The chorus is directed by Matthew J. Packer and accompanied by Cathy Watson.

The Flint Male Chorus performs music of many styles and periods including spirituals, folk music, musical theater, as well as traditional sacred and secular pieces. More
